CRIMINAL DEFENCE

Lost Boys is highly specialised in Serious Crime Investigation. Drawing from experiences within the police force, Lost Boys provides our clients with investigative aid and expert guidance in Criminal Defence Cases. Our services may be engaged at any stage of a defence, from the initial prosecution disclosure and defence statement, to the trial and any subsequent appeals.

We are actively involved in assisting our clients on several high-profile miscarriage of justice cases. It is our belief that there will be an increased demand for the role of Defence Investigations within the British legal system (in a similar vein to the long-standing practice of defence investigations in the USA).

Although this role has been traditionally reserved for Defence Solicitors in UK, we know from experience that a lawyer’s investigative approach can be limited. Our services differ in strategy and approach, to ensure that our clients have access the most effective criminal defence available. As ex-covert police detectives with over two decades of experience, we are able to approach our clients’ cases with the legal, investigative and evidentiary expertise that a Defence Solicitor would not necessarily possess. Examples of these services extend to the use of surveillance, the deployment of Covert Human Intelligence Sources (CHIS), phone and computer examination, or PAS phone related evidence, among others.

Our criminal defence services include (but are not limited to):

  • Abuse of process

  • Assessment of disclosure

  • Defence witness tracing and statementing

  • Evaluation and advice around intelligence related to case

  • Evaluation of covert policing techniques

  • Evaluation of phone evidence and unused material

  • Evaluation of prosecution case, including potential mishandling of evidence

  • Evaluation of unused material

  • Investigation of other potential lines of enquiry

  • Investigation of potential police misconduct

  • Mishandling of evidence

  • Re-interviewing of witnesses in criminal appeals cases

  • Review of potential technical evidence

Please note: clients must give written consent to their case being shared and undertaken by Lost Boys, prior to the discussion of a case at more than hypothetical level. We are able to provide a confidentiality agreement that will ensure complete privacy regarding any work we carry out on your behalf.
